WILL COUNTY CLERK LAUREN STALEY FERRY TO HOST CENTRAL COUNT SUNDAY, JUNE 26.
JOLIET – Will County Clerk Lauren Staley Ferry invites candidates, political parties, and qualified civic organizations to observe as Vote By Mail Ballots received by the County Clerk’s Office are placed into election tabulators during what is called Central Count.
The Central Count for the 2022 General Primary Election will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 26 in the Will County Board Room, 302 N. Chicago St., in downtown Joliet.
Prior to the Central Count, beginning at 7:30 a.m., Election Workers will open sealed Vote By Mail Ballot Envelopes. The ballots will remain inside the envelopes until they are extracted by Election Judges representing both political parties during the Central Count.
Teams of Election Judges will process Vote By Mail Ballots through the tabulators during the Central Count. The results will remain sealed until they are posted online at willcountyclerk.gov on Election Day, Tuesday, June 28, shortly after 7 p.m.
Each political party, candidate, and qualified civic organization is entitled to have Pollwatchers present during both proceedings. Pollwatchers must have a Pollwatcher Credentials form to present to Election Staff at Central Count. Credentials can be found online at willcountyclerk.gov.
“Both proceedings are completely transparent so that all interested parties may observe the processing of Vote By Mail Ballots,” said County Clerk Staley Ferry.
